I'm Here To: Taste

In the early 1970's wine making pioneers began planting vineyards and establishing wineries in the hills surrounding McMinnville. Yamhill County has a long, moderate growing season which has proven ideal for growing such grapes as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and White Riesling.  The Yamhill Valley is often compared to the wine regions of France and Germany, and in 1987, McMinnville held the very first International Pinot Noir Celebration.

Whether or not you're here specifically for the wines, no visit to McMinnville is complete without stepping into one of our local tasting rooms . There are many opportunities to do so right downtown.  After you've sampled the wines offered on Third Street, you can walk a couple of blocks over to the old granary district on fifth street and find yourself in what is quickly becoming known as the Urban Pinot Quarter. Much of the wine that is available to taste here is crafted here as well, and there is always some kind of production taking place.  To learn more about local wines visit OregonWine.com

The third Saturday of every month, downtown McMinnville hosts an Art & Wine Walk . Stroll from shop to shop tasting wine poured by local wineries, and perusing art work from area artists. Businesses are open until eight on these evenings so take your time and enjoy.
