Oregon's Favorite Main Street
Aug 6, 2012
The Yamhill Enrichment Society (YES) has set into motion a community-wide project comparing life 100 years ago to life today and leading to the next question — how do we take the best of the past and present into the future?
Working with the Yamhill County Historical Society, Linfield College, McMinnville Downtown Association, McMinnville Public Library, City of McMinnville, News-Register, Gormley Plumbing + Mechanical; Hagan Hamilton Insurance Services; Oregon Stationers; and Haugeberg, Rueter, Gowell, Fredricks & Higgins, McMinnville Garden Club, Gallery Players, Yamhill Soil & Water Conservation District, and Yamhill Valley Heritage Center, YES is coordinating a series of research discussions, exhibitions, lectures, displays and tours examining how our forbears handled the reinventing of their economy as the horse and buggy era gave way to automobiles — an economic dislocation parallel to what we are experiencing today.
The McMinnville Downtown Association works to promote and enhance our historic downtown as the economic, social and cultural heart of the community.
Come join us for an informative talk about initiatives affecting the downtown over breakfast!
